This Pinot Noir is made from Russian River Valley fruit in a totally delicious and brilliantly perfumed style. If you are looking for a lighter red for the summer months, then we heartily recommend this delicate but flavorful Pinot. The elegant aromatics feature brown sugar, rose water, and macerated raspberries. The long and balanced palate tastes of creamy Thai spiced tea, vanilla, and bright red fruit, uplifted by supple tannins. Pair with Lamb stew, Seared Ahi, or an unpretentious pizza!
Our hand selected Shiraz originates from one of the most celebrated wine districts in Australia – the Barossa Valley, South Australia, where wines produced from Old Vine Shiraz are enthusiastically sought. You grasp the true Australian Shiraz with this wine! The nose exhibits violets and dark plums finishing with an earthy, savory complexity. The palate is full bodied, demonstrating ripe dark cherry, woven between black pepper spice and soft supple tannins with a slightly smokey finish. It is the perfect accompaniment to Roast Lamb or tart red sauces.
With 5 years in the bottle, our Old Vine Shiraz is already demonstrating black truffle earthiness on the nose, surrounded by the most intense dark cherry fruit. This is one of those rare wines you luxuriate in simply inhaling for a few moments. The beautifully extracted fruit flavors of these vines planted in 1923 reward with a palate popping with fresh pomegranate, black cherry, blackberry, finishing long with chalky fine tannins and that signature Shiraz pepperiness. Enjoy with Easter Leg of Lamb, Beef Bourguignon, or a great charcuterie.
Claros is a multi award winning wine from the Norton grape varietal. The 2023 is powerfully perfumed, with pronounced aromas of blueberry pie framed by smoke and roasted fennel that greet you from about three inches above the glass. The palate is brimming with fresh and crisply acidic fruit, from dark plum to blackberry, and interwoven with Claros ’signature spice profile of allspice and cinnamon. This is a lovely fruit forward wine and very food friendly.
Triumvirate, or “rule of three”, is a Rhone blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre, from the Barossa valley of Australia. Predominantly Grenache, this wine is a perfect light to medium red, drinking now something like a bold Pinot Noir. The nose is full of sour cherries and musty red earth, complimented by a palate exploding with an alluring array of red fruits and black tea along a bright white pepper finish. Best paired with roasted meats and summer vegetables, such as a classic wood fired burger.
Red Blend: Grenache, Shiraz & Mourvèdre
If you are feeling a bit racy, then try this rebellious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre from the Barossa Valley. Violets, bramble berry, black cherry, black plum, black pepper. An intense mouth-filling richness and the gentle suggestion of American oak leaves the palate dry and uncluttered. Bold but beautifully balanced.
Red Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Grenache & Mourvèdre
Many of the great wines of Australia are a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Angela’s late husband Howard wanted Stone House to feature an excellent blend of this kind. Hence, our Australian flagship wine, Angela’s Wish. This is a wine of ponderous complexity, featuring leather and violets and calcareous earth on a full and fragrant nose, followed by a dazzling range of pomegranate and tart but superbly concentrated olallieberry and just a touch of sarsaparilla. With a hint of black pepper, supple tannins along a strong and lingering finish.
Red Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz
Stone House’s flagship wine is Angela’s lasting tribute to her late husband Howard. He was especially fond of Bordeaux wines and in addition Howard loved the classics, and especially the Greeks. He read Homer endlessly, from which the name of this wine finds its source. “Enargeia,” in Homer, is the term that conveys the physical appearance of the gods when they take on human form. It is a term that connotes a coming together of the divine and human worlds. This special wine, a Bordeaux blend, with its power, depth, and elegant complexity, is a fitting legacy to Howard Moench.
Red Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Malbec
This 2023 vintage is carrying on the tradition of excellence. Refined and deeply extracted color is the first thing you will notice about this remarkable wine. No matter what Miles Raymond says in the movie Sideways, Merlot made from great Napa fruit like this can be as complex and as bold as any Cabernet. The nose is mocha and classic charred cedar, minty herbs, dusty dark fruit, supported by a palate of black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, and smokey mint in a protracted finish that is as long as a Texas summer! This wine is perfect paired with a well marbled steak, smokey savory brisket, or perhaps just with a Merlot skeptic.
With light tannins and medium acidity, this fresh and easy drinking Tempranillo is made in a light style for daily enjoyment. We think of our Tempranillo as among our most versatile and fruit forward of wines. The nose of strawberry and leather and earth is accompanied seamlessly by fresh joven red fruit jam and Asian spice flavors that give this wine a superbly lively mouth feel on finish. An excellent pairing for Beef Curry dishes or Paella or a Tuesday evening that simply needs to be made a bit more delicious.
